Project Financial Literacy

A competitive initiative for Iowa K-12 schools to promote financial literacy education

Purpose & Goals

Project Financial Literacy strives to:

  • Advocate for financial literacy education.
  • Provide a simple measure of student financial literacy.
  • Competitively challenge schools to improve financial literacy programming.
  • Bring together Iowa partners promoting financial literacy.

Established Need

Project Financial Literacy is reaching students across Iowa! To date, nearly 50 Iowa high schools have participated in the program, reaching more than 1,800 students. 15 Iowa banks have also already joined the initiative to sponsor local high schools.

We feel that Project Financial Literacy is to be celebrated and built upon. 38,000 students graduated from Iowa High Schools in 2015. It is our goal that each of these students has the financial literacy skills to be successful in their future endeavors. Data indicates, however, that students still need additional support in this area.
